On this page, is a collection of work I completed through the MSU-WIPRO STEM Fellowship during the 2014-2105 school year with Chicago Public Schools. A cohort of 25 educators within the district collaborated on strengthening our skill set around STEM initiatives in our classrooms. The work that transpired through the program is a testament to the creativity and meaningfulness of this experience.

DreamIT Spring Update- MarchStudents have engaged in several science investigations throughout the last few weeks in our matter unit. Students experienced matter through informational text, an at-home project, art design, video clips, and even food! Students enjoyed the variety of activities that culminated into a well-rounded unit and yielded great understanding around the three states of matter.

Urban STEM Program CPS & MSUFocus Groups in 40 SecondsDreamIT- Fall UpdateAs my new school year unfolds, I would like to periodically update you on the great happenings of Room 108. Science truly is everywhere in our classroom. Students are questioning, curious, and making meaningful connections on a daily basis. Our first unit on weather is underway and students are letting gaining knowledge content in order to give a news cast meteorology report by the end of the unit. There is a great buzz happening as students and parents are fully engaged within this unit. I hear about discussions being had at home and can see the translation of these connections in class as students are more engulf with their learning and motivated to "grow their brain" as we like to say in our classroom.

As I participate in this fellowship, I am simultaneously taking a methods to educational research course through Michigan State's MAET program. I made the conscious effort to bridge my efforts in this DreamIT project with my research studies in this class. Because my fellowship DreamIT project includes in the integration of technology, I was curious to see what impact iPads make on student learning. I have included my research project within my MSU methods class as more insight to the decisions I am making regarding my teaching and specifically this project.
